The Apple Cooler pairs apple’s gentle sweetness with lemon’s brightness and a splash of color from grenadine, all lifted by soda for an easy, refreshing finish. Think of it as a grown-up apple soda — light enough to sip freely, and a great choice as an aperitif or a quick refresher.

Directions

Fill a glass with ice, then add the Apple Barrel liqueur, lemon juice, and grenadine syrup.

Built on apple liqueur, brightened with citrusy lemon juice and a touch of grenadine (pomegranate syrup), then topped with soda water, this is a Cooler-style cocktail defined by apple’s fruity sweetness.
It’s especially approachable for anyone new to cocktails. The apple liqueur’s gentle sweetness gets balanced out by lemon juice’s acidity, and grenadine adds a subtle sweet-tart layer on top, rounding everything into a well-balanced drink. Topping it off with soda brings a crisp fizz and a clean finish, giving it the feel of a grown-up apple soda.
Take a sip, and apple’s bright aroma comes through first, followed by a light, refreshing finish carried by the fizz — perfect for a hot summer day or whenever you need something to cool down with.
With sweetness and acidity in easy balance, it works just as well as an aperitif or alongside a meal.
Points, Variations & Perfect Pairings

- Food Pairings・・・Apple’s sweetness pairs beautifully with cheese — try this alongside a plate of Brie or Camembert with a few slices of prosciutto for an elegant match.
- Bartender’s Tips・・・Pour the soda gently over the ice rather than straight down the middle. Keeping as much fizz as possible is the key to that light, easy-drinking finish.
- Variations・・・Add a splash of cinnamon liqueur in place of some of the Apple Barrel for a warm, apple-pie-like aroma — perfect for fall and winter sipping.
- A Note on Enjoying This Drink・・・At just 4–5% ABV, it’s easy to drink faster than you realize thanks to its sweetness. Pace yourself, and keep a glass of water on hand.
