Characteristics of Orange Fizz

In short, Orange Fizz is a Gin Fizz with orange juice added. Among fizz-style cocktails, this one stands out for being especially easy to drink — approachable even for those who aren’t big fans of alcohol.
Built on a gin base, Orange Fizz is a refreshing, easy-drinking cocktail that’s particularly welcoming to beginners. That’s largely thanks to how gin’s crisp character pairs with the sweetness of orange juice and the tartness of lemon, all lightened up with a splash of soda. You can still sense the gin underneath, but the fruity citrus flavor takes the lead, keeping the alcohol from feeling too heavy and leaving a smooth, pleasant finish.
Sip it on a summer afternoon and the fizz of soda paired with orange’s bright aroma feels like a grown-up take on fresh orange soda. Simple yet layered, it’s the kind of cocktail that leaves newcomers curious to try what else the cocktail world has to offer.
Points, Twists & Food Pairings

- Best Pairings・・・Pair with light appetizers like grilled shrimp skewers, chicken satay, or a citrus salad — the orange notes complement grilled and tangy flavors well.
- Mixing Tip・・・Shake hard and long enough to fully dissolve the sugar; undissolved sugar at the bottom throws off the balance of sweetness in every sip.
- Easy Twist・・・Add a few dashes of orange bitters for extra depth, or swap regular gin for a citrus-forward gin to amplify the orange character.
- Drinking Note・・・It’s easy to drink quickly thanks to the citrus and soda, but it still carries a solid 9–10% ABV — pace yourself, especially in the sun.
